Baltimore Ravens v Jacksonville Jaguars: Friday 6 November, 1.15am UK, Sky Sports NFL

Venue: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore | Kick-off: Friday 6 November, 1.15am UK (Thursday Night Football) | UK TV: Sky Sports NFL

Preview

Baltimore’s season has fallen apart in a week. Lamar Jackson came back from three games out with an ankle injury, then lasted one play at Buffalo. His right hand hit Greg Rousseau as he threw, and he now needs thumb surgery and goes on injured reserve. Jesse Minter said “potentially” when asked if it could end his season. Tyler Huntley went off in the same game with turf toe and has been ruled out. That leaves the undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano. He went 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception in relief, and he’s carrying an ankle problem of his own. Minter would only say he has “a chance” to play. Austin Reed has been signed to the practice squad as cover.

The Ravens are 4-4 and have lost three on the bounce, and that 36-10 hammering in Buffalo came after a 35-13 home defeat to Cincinnati. Their points difference is -24. Their kicker Tyler Loop has a groin injury, so Jake Moody is expected to kick, and Roquan Smith is questionable with a foot problem.

Jacksonville arrive at 5-2 with a +85 points difference. They’ve conceded 111 points in seven games, which is under 16 a game. They haven’t come through Sunday unscathed, though. DaVon Hamilton is out for the season with a torn quad, and Travon Walker (ribs) missed Monday’s walkthrough. Trevor Lawrence has 17 touchdowns against four interceptions, and they put 42 on Indianapolis on Sunday. Both sides are on a short week. The Jaguars have to travel, but they’re the side with a working offence.

The market has made Jacksonville 8.5-point road favourites, and that’s a big number to lay away from home. The question is whether Baltimore can score at all with a third-string rookie behind an offensive line that’s banged up too (Roger Rosengarten is questionable). Derrick Henry (632 yards, 8 TDs) means they won’t be completely toothless. Expect plenty of Henry and a shortened game, which is the main risk to a big handicap. Still, a Jaguars front that has been this stingy against a quarterback with 21 career passes is a mismatch. I’d rather back Jacksonville to cover than chase a low total that a defensive or special-teams score could ruin.

The risk: if Fagnano can’t go, the line moves further and the value goes with it. If Baltimore keep it on the ground and shorten the game, 8.5 points is a lot to cover.

Our tip: Baltimore Ravens v Jacksonville Jaguars

SELECTION: Jacksonville Jaguars -8.5 @ 20/23 (bet365) – 1 point win

Atlanta Falcons v Cincinnati Bengals (Madrid): Sunday 8 November, 2.30pm UK, Sky Sports / NOW

Venue: Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid | Kick-off: Sunday 8 November, 2.30pm UK | UK TV: Sky Sports / NOW

Preview

The second Madrid game gives us the hottest quarterback in the league against one who threw four interceptions last weekend. Joe Burrow leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 20 against six picks, on 73% completions. Tee Higgins is second in the league with 726 receiving yards, and Mike Gesicki has scored in five straight games. The Bengals are 5-2 and have won three in a row, including 35-13 in Baltimore and a 43-36 overtime shootout with Tennessee.

Atlanta are 3-5. Last week they were shut out 16-0 by Tampa Bay, who didn’t complete a single pass. Michael Penix Jr. went 8 of 24 for 125 yards and four interceptions. Bijan Robinson (780 yards) and Drake London (624 yards) are a decent pair to build round, but the Falcons have conceded 189 points in eight games. Samson Ebukam and Zachariah Branch are both ruled out with hamstring injuries. James Pearce Jr., who had 10.5 sacks as a rookie in 2025, is eligible to come back from his suspension, but whether he’s activated is still unconfirmed.

Cincinnati’s own worries are on defence. The rookie edge Cashius Howell has had wrist surgery. DJ Turner II (heel) and Cedric Johnson (ankle) are day-to-day, although both are travelling, and Kyle Dugger is listed out. That’s how you end up conceding 36 to Tennessee, and it’s why the total sits at 52.5.

The Bengals fly out Tuesday night, which gives them a proper few days to adjust. The roof at the Bernabéu is expected to be closed, which suits a passing game like Burrow’s. bet365 have the handicap at 3.5 rather than the 3 seen elsewhere, so a Bengals win by exactly a field goal now loses. Even so, with by far the better quarterback, I’m happy to lay it at odds-against. The danger is a Bengals defence missing bodies up front that lets Robinson take over and keep Burrow on the sideline, plus the usual oddities of a neutral-site game.

Our tip: Atlanta Falcons v Cincinnati Bengals

BEST BET OF THE DAY: Cincinnati Bengals -3.5 @ 11/10 (bet365) – 1.5 points win

Chicago Bears v Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Monday 9 November, 1.20am UK, Sky Sports NFL

Venue: Soldier Field, Chicago | Kick-off: Monday 9 November, 1.20am UK (Sunday Night Football) | UK TV: Sky Sports NFL

Preview

The Bucs won last week without completing a pass. Baker Mayfield went 0 for 3 in the 16-0 win over Atlanta while they ran for a franchise-record 324 yards and picked off Penix four times. The week before they beat Carolina 43-13. At 3-5 they’re half a game off the top of the NFC South, and they’ve conceded only 151 points in eight games. Bucky Irving has 728 rushing yards. Mayfield missed three games with a thumb injury but carries no injury designation this week. The bigger absence is Emeka Egbuka, who is listed out with a foot injury. Yaya Diaby is also out, and Jalen McMillan is on IR.

Chicago are 6-2 and have won three in a row, beating Atlanta, New England and then Seattle 34-17 away last week. They’re 3-1 at Soldier Field, and D’Andre Swift already has ten rushing touchdowns. Caleb Williams has been tidy with six touchdowns and one interception. Malik Muhammad II is out at corner, while Grady Jarrett and Kentavius Street are questionable on the defensive line.

The Bears are 6-point favourites with a total of 46.5. I don’t see enough to back either side on the handicap. Tampa’s run-heavy approach without Egbuka should keep the ball on the ground and the clock moving. Chicago lean on Swift near the line too, and Tampa’s defence is in good form. Four of Tampa’s last five games have finished under this number, with totals of 31, 40, 45, 56 and 16 points. A Sunday-night game in Chicago in November, with two teams who are happy to run it, points to the under.

The risk: Chicago scored 30-plus three times during this run. If Williams gets them ahead early, Tampa have to throw, and then it gets loose quickly.

Our tip: Chicago Bears v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

SELECTION: Under 46.5 total points @ 10/11 (bet365) – 1 point win

Minnesota Vikings v Buffalo Bills: Tuesday 10 November, 1.15am UK, Sky Sports NFL

Venue: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis | Kick-off: Tuesday 10 November, 1.15am UK (Monday Night Football) | UK TV: Sky Sports NFL

Preview

This is the best-on-paper game of the week. Both sides are 6-1, and it’s the highest-scoring offence in the league against the stingiest defence. Buffalo have scored 233 points in seven games, with James Cook on 707 yards and seven touchdowns and Josh Allen on 11 touchdown passes. Greg Rousseau has seven sacks. They’re 3-0 on the road, but they’re thin in places. Spencer Brown (back) is out at right tackle, Dee Alford and Greg Gaines are out, and DJ Moore (knee) and Joshua Palmer (hamstring) are questionable.

Minnesota have conceded 93 points in seven games, just over 13 a game, and they’re 3-0 at home. Andrew Van Ginkel has 6.5 sacks. The offence is a different story. Their last five games finished 23-16, 15-10, 23-13, 16-10 and a 19-15 loss in Detroit. Kyler Murray has five touchdowns and three interceptions and is now nursing a sore hamstring. Kevin O’Connell says Murray stays the starter if he’s fit, but wouldn’t commit beyond that. Carson Wentz is next in line. Christian Darrisaw (shoulder) is also being assessed at left tackle. The Vikings’ first practice is Thursday, so we won’t know much before then.

Buffalo are 3.5-point favourites. Most US books have the total at 45.5, but bet365 are a point higher at 46.5, so we take the extra point. On the side, I’d want to know who’s at quarterback for Minnesota before getting involved. The total is a different matter. Every one of the Vikings’ last five games has finished under 40 points. Sports Illustrated has their defence second in the league for EPA per play and their offence 30th. Their defence has held up against everyone so far, and a Murray who is limited by his hamstring, or Wentz (who started the wins over Green Bay and Chicago in Weeks 1 and 2), won’t make the offence any more explosive. Buffalo have scored 24 or more in each of their last five games, so this needs the Vikings defence to deliver again. That’s what we’re backing.

The risk: Allen at full tilt is the one quarterback who could break this defence, and a Bills pick-six or short field could do the rest. With the injury picture this unclear, the stake stays at a single point.

Our tip: Minnesota Vikings v Buffalo Bills

SELECTION: Under 46.5 total points @ 25/29 (bet365) – 1 point win

NFL Week 9 Accumulator and Bet Builder

Accumulator: Jaguars, Bengals and the Sunday-night under

The three picks from the opening three games combine into a treble. At the individual bet365 prices above, the treble works out at roughly 6.5/1. Don’t take that as a quoted price, because the acca price on the slip may differ. If you’re new to multiples, our guide to building a risk-managed acca explains why the stake stays small.

ACCUMULATOR: Jacksonville Jaguars -8.5, Cincinnati Bengals -3.5, Bears v Buccaneers Under 46.5 total points – about 6.5/1 – 0.5 points win

Bet Builder: Ravens v Jaguars

The Thursday game has the clearest angle of the week. Baltimore are down to an undrafted rookie quarterback, and Jacksonville have conceded under 16 points a game. Trevor Lawrence has 17 touchdown passes this season. This Bet Builder backs the Jaguars to win without needing them to cover 8.5 points, and adds a Lawrence touchdown pass to build the price.

BET BUILDER: Jaguars to win + Trevor Lawrence 1+ passing touchdown – price on bet365 Bet Builder – 0.5 points win
